How does granite or marble differ from cultured stone?

Cultured stone is a polymer/plastic manufactured surface that is often formed in one piece to simplify installation. "Corian" is an example of this kind of product.  Because of its simple installation, cultured stone is often chosen for mass-produced housing.  The softer polymer-plastic surface cannot approach the exquisite natural beauty or long-lasting hardness and durability of natural stone.
